What other coach in any other sport would wear another teams shirt who they had signed for just before the playoffs, i have said it in the past yes he has done a good job for us but i still feel he used Leigh as a stepping stone to get back int super league, im sure if he had signed for Wigan and worn there shirt the majority of Leigh fans would have had something to say so whats the difference. Waiting with anticipation for some rants at me.

Entitled to your view and maybe he did use us as a 'stepping stone' However, he was good enough to fish us out of the water and resuscitate us on the way across to the other side.

Everyone knows Basil is too good a coach to be warming his heels in the Championship for the next 3 seasons - so as early as last season's exit in the play-offs to Sheffield - and with it the end of our chance to apply for a licence - it was inevitable that he was due to move on. Had we not had the misfortune of AT having to withdraw, and the uncertainty surrounding the financial future of the club I reckon we'd have been looking at a Double, if not even a treble this season - and I reckon he might have hung around another year or maybe longer to help us build the fanbase, and make us an irresistable option for the next round of licences.

As regards the wearing of the shirt - I think the whole system stinks, and all announcements about movements should only be allowed at season's end - but as we knew already that he was leaving it can hardly be used as a stick to beat him!!

I'd like to thank Basil for the turnaround in our club over the last couple of seasons, and wish him all the best.

Why?

Because we had to have won the Trains Cup, or made a GF by the end of last season to apply for a licence this time round......do try and keep up!!

Its the system thats wrong.
It needs stopping or changing as I said a few weeks ago.

Any transfer announcements for the following season should be suspended from June until the end of all leagues play offs.
Any club found to be 'tapping' players or coaches up in the interim to cop a £20,000 Fine and 12 points deducted for the coming season.

The ignorance and arogance in rl would suggest that that will never happen.
