[iThe day after it was announced that Widnes are returning to superleague, it has emerged that Salford are the only club yet to re-submit their application, and maybe be forced to ask for an extension to the deadline.

It is thought that with work ongoing at the clubs new stadium, the franchise application had taken a back seat in the boardroom, with the final details of the applicaton still to be finalised.

No one at the reds was available for comment.[/i
