I think he is better at 9 !! because we look more fluent in attack when he is on !! But he ain't pretty bad at 7 either !!

The team have gone up a level since he moved there and he's always dangerous when he gets in at dummy half. His try against Huddersfield shows that he poses a threat from dummy half close to the line. It's also noticeable how quick Tommy is to get in at dummy half which further adds to the pace he brings around the ruck.

Finch has done exactly what Tommy failed to do; he has been leading the team and controlling the game when Deacon hasn't had much influence. Against Huddersfield Deacon was closed down consistently and he had very little time in attack which limited his impact on the game. If Tommy had been his partner it's unlikely he would have been able to lead the team around and control the game whereas Finch did it effortlessly.

Put a top class hooker at 9 next season and have a finch and tommy 6-7

9. We've looked much better imo and spelling him and McIlorum leaving the halves unchanged keeps the overall balance of the team rather than needing to switch 3 or 4 positions when we make an interchange.

He's a class player wherever you put him and he'll play wherever the side needs him most.

7, had you a natural hooker (don't give me the NZ tosh, he's only a 9 for those to fit him in the squad) then you'd currently be top. It's the same as us putting Monaghan at 7, yeah he does a decent job but he's not as effective.

It forces him to get involved more and take on the defensive line. Far to often in the past at scrumhalf Tommy would be anonymous in games.

With the best will in the world, doesn't control a game from a Halfback role like Finch can, on a consistent basis.

He is quality with both. In our team at the moment he is a 9 and is the most attacking threat we have in that position but overall he is more potential at 7. He is more consistant at 9 though which I like.
