Ok - it's late, but Fri's and Sun's didn't seem to serve the club too badly in 1997. Quite a lot of variance which would point to either a lot of travelling support (London being a novelty then) or certain games being heavily marketed (I believe there was a full time team of 3, who went at the end of the season, poss why 1998 and 1999 are terrible in comparison?)
The final Bradford figure is quite remarkable, if true.
I make the average to be - 5,125. Not bad.....

| Quote poorlytoe="poorlytoe"I'm led to believe that they do - they have a unit that consults and they have masterclass/best practice sessions.
You've hit the nail on the head though - Owners take great pleasure in spending money on hiring players as that's where their interest lies. They don't ordinarily buy clubs as investments.
So - convincing them to spend on marketing is harder. It's ironic that a marketing spend ought to reduce their liabilities - e.g. spend 10k marketing every game, you'd hope to make more than 10k back on the back of it in increased spectators. Over the course of the season, their loss is lowered. Speculate to accumulate.'"
Which are mostly focussed on Corporate and sponsorship rather than ' bums on seats ' type marketing
But unfortunatley you dont , you need to spend 10 K and you will get back 1 K , so most then stop and say " Its not working "
So what you have to do is spend 10 K every match and then 3/4 years down the line it starts to pay off
But that type of long term thinking doesn't exist in the world of RL

| South West Trains pays an annual fee of £119m for its franchise, instead of receiving subsidies, and I doubt they get much of it from rural Dorset. How much are we all paying to subsidise the Northern Rail Cup?

Agree, trouble is short term results are also a major driver for the majority of supporters as noted on most threads on the VT.

The RFL are also guilty of the short term fix , thats why they concentrate on the sponsorship/corporate angle
Getting fans in is hard work , who likes working hard ?

| I know our crowds are not very good, buts let’s put it in perspective! There were only 4,721 at Wakefield tonight. Two heartlands clubs only 55 miles apart!
Perhaps it’s not just our club but the product, or the perception of the product on offer!
