Brett Hodgson is a lovely bloke and I bet he's a great coach. Why shouldn't he get a job coaching with Widnes or anybody else? I'm glad (for the sake of his body) that he's not playing. Good luck to him in the future.

Ironic that a smack in the chops by a Widnes player more or less finished him.

Thought the travel was an issue with Brett commuting daily from Huddersfield. Can't see the connection with Brett and the Vikings other than they ended his playing days.

The bloke needed a job - Widnes gave him one. Its pretty simple.

The Widnes link gives it a nice twist, but overall there is really no story as far as we are concerned.

Sorry Brett, you were a fantastic player for us, but I don't wish you any luck there.

As an outsider with no 'inside' knowledge and relying on the gossip here - a dangerous thing to do - it looks to me like he left Wire under a cloud when he could have been used by us helping the coaching of the f/b and backs.
Real shame.

So he needed another job and Widnes were smart enough to offer him a role.

I met him a couple of times and was a real gent. Hope he does well (but Widnes do not do well against us.....)

Putting aside his fantastic contribution which none of us should forget.

He's gone to Widnes to coach not play, so even a mid table club don't have a playing role for him... kind of justifies Tonys decision that Rathford was the right choice, again forgetting Ratchfords brilliant for at the time.

His ego got in way of a possible role at Wire in a better set up all round.

Good luck to him though, he was a great signing.
